Introduction |
|
|
When the IVEO Viewer or Creator is to be used with the
IVEO Touchpad it is necessary to initialize the touchpad with setup
and calibration steps. The touchpad needs to
be set up to work with your particular monitor and will not need to be
initialized again unless the computer, video card, or monitor is
changed. In addition the IVEO software needs to be
calibrated so that its screen image is placed properly with respect to
the touchpad. These setup and calibration steps are very
important. If not done properly the
touchpad will not work properly with IVEO software. This
procedure is described in the [IVEO Touchpad
Setup Instructions]. |

Creating Initial Setup Pattern for IVEO Touchpad |
|
|
If the initial setup pattern shipped with the Touchpad is
lost, you can create another by using the “Print Initial IVEO Touchpad
Pattern” item in the Viewer or Creator menu to emboss the setup pattern
for the touchpad. Then make sure that the setup pattern is
mounted
on the Touchpad. The correct positioning for the callibration page has
the Braille
label under the clamp which should be on the user's left. The page
should be placed
on the pad so that before the paper is clamped, the upper left
hand corner of the
page is as far up and to the left as it will go. The pattern has a
large frame
with a single dot in the lower left corner, a double dot in the top
right corner, and
three dots in the upper left corner. Press the single dot in
the lower left corner of the calibration page. The tone means that the computer
has understood your input for that point, but you should keep your
finger on the dot for about three seconds. Next,
do the same press and hold process on the double dot in the upper
right-hand corner,
then for the triple dot in the upper left corner. A window should now
pop up to
tell you that the setup is finished. Click "OK".
Once the touchpad has been set up, it should never need it again on
that computer. |

Creating a US Map for Calibrating the On-screen Image to the Printed Image |
|
|
You may use a standard calibration pattern (Note, not
the setup pattern) created by selecting the "Print Calibration
Pattern" item in the Touchpad menu.
However it is usually more convenient to use a standard SVG image, such
as the US
map. To print the US map, go to the '‘File'' menu and choose '‘Open''.
In the Open File dialog box, choose the "'maps" folder in the '‘samples'' folder included
with all IVEO Viewer and Creator installations in the C:Program
FilesViewPlus directory. In the '‘Maps'' folder, open usa_map.svg.
You should hear
"‘Document loaded"' when the file is open and ready to use.
Now you need to emboss the file you opened. The program is
set to print by default on 8.5 x 11 inch single sheet or tractor feed paper. If your
embosser is capable, you may use larger paper, but there
will be a large amount of blank space on the page. A4 paper may be used as well without any
change in the file or page setup. Make sure that the desired paper is loaded into your
embosser. Press CTRL-p or selected the "print" item from the "File"
menu. If a ViewPlus embosser is not your default printer, arrow down to select a
ViewPlus embosser, and then press ENTER.
Remove the page from your embosser. If you used tractor
feed paper, remove the tractor strips. Place it landscape on the Touchpad in front of
you with the tactile bar code (three small dots arranged in the linear boxes) at the
top. Lift the clamp on the left up from the surface of the Touchpad screen and slide
the wide left margin of your paper underneath. Slide the paper away from you so
that it is placed in the upper left hand corner of the Touchpad and lower the
clamp back down. The Braille index and file title will be under the clamp.
Your IVEO Touchpad and Viewer or Creator should now be
calibrated. You can check the calibration of the on-screen image to the printed
image by touching places very close to the borders of states on the US map you used
during calibration. Oklahoma is a good state to try this on because it is bordered all
around by other states. Inside Oklahoma,
touch very close to the borders. The program should still say 'Oklahoma' when you do this. If it says the name of a neighboring
state, the calibration is off. Follow the steps to calibrate the on-screen image to
the printed image again.
