Chapter I: Initial Setup and Calibration Procedure for IVEO Touchpad UsersBegin Main Content

A.   Initial Setup of Touchpad
The IVEO Touchpad is oriented landscape. Place the Touchpad on a level, flat surface like a desk, or on your lap. The side with the clamp should be on the left and the USB plug should be at the back of the Touchpad, away from you.

Installation of all necessary software for the IVEO Touchpad is done automatically when the IVEO Viewer or Creator is installed.  Install and open either the IVEO Creator or Viewer to proceed with setup, calibration, and use of the IVEO Touchpad.

The touchpad must be set up to work with the monitor on your computer, and then the IVEO software must be calibrated so the screen image is properly positioned relative to the touchpad. These steps are VERY IMPORTANT. The application will not work properly with the touchpad until these two steps are finished.
  • In the File menu Preferences item, be sure that the Accessibility mode, fixed screen, and Windows dialogues are selected.

  • Be sure the IVEO Touchpad Initial Setup pattern is in place.  The touchpad is shipped with the initial setup pattern clamped into place.  If it has been removed or lost, consult the IVEO Touchpad Manual for instructions on placing tactile images onto the touchpad or embossing a new copy if the original initial setup pattern has been lost.

  • Use the “Perform IVEO Touchpad Setup” item in the Touchpad menu to start the setup process.  Note that the process times out ten seconds after each operation.  If it times out, start over.

  • After starting the setup process, press the single dot in the lower left corner of the calibration page. After hearing a tone, keep holding down for about 3 seconds.

  • Do the same press and hold process on the double dot in the upper right-hand corner,
  • Do the same press and hold process on the triple dot in the upper left corner.
  • A window should now pop up to tell you that the setup is finished. Click ‘OK'.

Once the touchpad has been set up, it should never need it again on that computer.

B.   Calibration of IVEO Touchpad
The final step is to calibrate the screen image to the touchpad.  This calibration should also need to be done only once.
  • Replace the initial setup pattern with the US map that was included with the IVEO Touchpad.  Depending on which software you have installed, consult the IVEO Creator Manual or the  IVEO Viewer Manual if the original map has been lost and a new one needs to be embossed.  Open the clamp and place the map in the upper left corner, then close the clamp to hold it.
  • Press CTRL-u or go to the ‘Touchpad menu and select “Calibrate from Current Image”.

  • The Viewer will say "Touch top left corner of the image."  Touch the top left point of the embossed corner on the top left (Note, this embossed corner is below the row of boxes).  The Viewer will say "Press space to confirm".  If you touched the wrong place, continue touching until you believe you have touched the correct point and then press the space bar.

  • You will then be prompted to "Touch the bottom right corner of the image."  Touch the bottom right point of the embossed corner and when you have touched the correct place, confirm by pressing the space bar.
Your IVEO Touchpad and Viewer or Creator should now be calibrated.

If you wish to continue using the US map in a tutorial on how to use IVEO, go to the initial tutorial in the appropriate manual for your software, either the IVEO Creator manual, the IVEO Viewer manual or go to IVEO tutorials on the ViewPlus web site.
