 Quick Paw Download

Quick Paw is a six- or eight-key Braille input software package that allows you to enter Braille directly into any mainstream Windows program such as Microsoft Word, giving you more options than ever before. To download this free software, select the link at the bottom of the page.

System Requirements:
PC 486 or higher
Windows® 2000/XP/Vista operating system
Keyboard with six-key rollover

How to use Quick Paw
After installation, open Microsoft Word or any other Windows text editing program. Next, open Quick Paw located in the ViewPlus folder under the Programs section of the Start menu.

With Quick Paw open you will see a section labeled CURRENT APPLICATIONS. This section will show all of the programs you currently have running. Select Microsoft Word or your preferred program from the list. If you do not see the program you would like to use on the list, first make sure the program is open and then press the REFRESH button.

After choosing your application you have the option of using two different entry methods. You are able to use Braille Entry, which allows you to use the traditional method of six- or eight-key entry using the home row of your keyboard, or you can choose QWERTY entry, which allows you to use your keyboard as a standard keyboard. Select the option that is most comfortable for you.

Lastly, there is an option to use space confirmation which is useful to inexperienced users because it allows them to press all the keys they want that represent the letter and press the space bar when finished to add the Braille. It also provides compatibility for newer keyboards that are not able to recognize the entry of six to eight keys simultaneously.

Once you press OK you will be redirected back to your preferred program, in this case Microsoft Word.

Now that you are back inside Microsoft Word, change the font to Braille 29 and set the font size to 29. This will allow you to see the Braille dots as you type.

Braille entry: Using the home row on your computer, begin to six-key. In this program, S, D, F, and J, K, L are now dots one through six.

QWERTY: Begin typing as you would normally.

Once you are finished, preview your document and print using your ViewPlus embosser.
